In Untitled (light) (2015) I became interested in how light traveled and was transferred—particularly how it illuminated, passed through, was stopped by and/or was reflected off of matter. In this work, a set of ten-second fixed-camera moving image vignettes were abutted into a two-minute video that curiously watched the subtlety of light playing out across a simple domestic setting. In the video, direct viewing was complemented by the indirect; reflections, shadows and illuminations alluded to and showed plainly the presence of camera, viewer, environment and light source as they travelled across space and time in relation to one another. The deliberate stillness of the camera drew attention to the transience and mobility of light. The video was projected onto a piece of frosted vinyl film which was applied to a clear glass sheet and leaned against the wall below an actual window.
